I was inspired to create this Shrine Art Sculpture after falling in love with the shrines I saw and visited throughout Italy. From the tiny shrines nestled in the walls of Rome, to the tall stone shrines in the middle of the Tuscan hills. Each one so magical, that I photographed each one. These shrines have existed since the Ancient Roman times, when the people followed the Ancient Roman Religion, when they worshipped Roman gods and goddesses. To this day these shrines are mainly filled with statues or photographs of religious deities, such as saints, Jesus and Mary. Filled with flowers, and candles each shrine holds centuries of prayers.. there is something so beautiful and sacred about them. I decided to create one inspired by the Goddess of Fortuna which is inscribed on the shrines. Fortuna is the of goddess of luck and prosperity.
